About Me

Hello! My name is Ange and I have been practising yoga for over 20 years.

​

Through my personal experience of yoga, I have worked with a variety of inspiring teachers, who have encouraged me to develop my own practice and pass on my knowledge to others.

​

My classes take a gentle, therapeutic approach that allows you to work at your own pace and ability. You can discover postures and develop mindfulness to help you manage the stresses and strains of daily life.

​

I qualified as a British Wheel of Yoga Teacher in 2005, and have since then had the privilege of teaching and sharing the ancient discipline to many students across North Yorkshire. In addition to my general classes, I am a qualified Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs instructor offering specialised, 12-week courses for yoga beginners with chronic lower back problems.

Yoga is not about wrapping your leg around your head or sitting in the lotus position.

 

Yoga is for everyone - male and female, tall and short, young and old.

 

You do not need to be naturally bendy or athletic and it does not require expensive or fancy equipment.

 

All that is required is a little space, the desire to roll out your mat and the discipline to practice!

Yoga at home

Each 90 minute class is carefully planned to give you the opportunity to work on developing:

​

  • Strength of muscles, bones, joints.

  • Flexibility - stretching in the right way without causing harm.

  • Pranayama (breathing techniques) being aware of the breath and helping to work through difficult situations.

  • Relaxation practises to access the 'rest and digest' response and switch off from daily life.

Yoga Class

Yoga For Healthy Lower Backs is a specialised, 12-week course, intended for yoga beginners with chronic lower back problems.

 

This is an evidence-based yoga programme, trialled by York University in conjunction with Arthritis Research UK (2006-2011).

 

It is simple, gentle and effective, helping you to improve posture, alignment and look after the health of your spine for the long term.
